The Milkmaid (circa 1660) is one of the main attractions of the Rijksmuseum. The painting shows an image of a maid serving milk into a ceramics bowl. It's an everyday situation, although it almost looks like a heroic action. In addition, the use of a maidservant as the main subject for a painting was uncommon during that time. The play of light is also spectacular: it plays over the objects like hundreds of colorful dots. We did not want to copy this play of light, but we wanted to emphasize it by using different wood types in our version. Using these techniques WoodWideArt makes an ode to the master.
The Milkmaid from WoodWideArt fits into any interior. The artwork has a combination of high-quality veneer woods, which makes it radiate quality. In addition, the work of art has an isometric design with recognizable lines that characterize our style.
The WoodWideArt collection consists of our interpretation of several impressive works of art such as Mona Lisa and The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, The Milkmaid, and The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer and Guernica by Picasso. We turn each work of art into a mosaic artwork, giving it a contemporary look & feel and a luxurious look at the same time. In addition, a work by WoodWideArt is recognizable by its isometric design in which certain lines keep recurring. We make the elaboration of the mosaic style by hand; this makes each work unique. A bit of puzzling for us, but 'ready to hang' for you!
The art pieces consist of different types of wood, such as rosewood, oak, walnut, and industrial black. We choose sustainable wood that will last for years. Various wood types and the various wood layers create a beautiful color palette and give the painting depth. You keep looking and cannot stop talking about it.
Have a medium-sized work of art in the bedroom or a big statement at the entrance of your home. You can, because our artworks are available in different sizes. Decide, we will get started.
